Clean Air Choice
Team & Partners:
On May 23rd, 2008, the North Dakota Clean Air Choice Team
helped Fargo locals off to a great Memorial Day weekend with an E85
station promotion. Petro Serve USA at 3902 Main Ave, Fargo,
lowered its E85 price by $.85 during the event. From 3 PM – 5
PM, Tom Lilja, Executive Director of the North Dakota Corn Growers
Association, and Clark Erickson, Petro Serve USA’s C-Store
Operations Manager, helped pump
1,250 gallons! KFGO 790AM promoted the event on air
and did live interviews with station manager, Kent Satrang.
The Fargo Forum and WDAY-TV were also present at the event.
To follow a great station event, the E85 racer, Jason Strand, took 1st
place in the Midwest Modifieds at Fargo’s Red River Valley Speedway
that night! Congratulations on your big win, Jason!
Thank you to everyone who helped at this event!
I have attached a photo summary of the event for your enjoyment.

VICTORY LANE !!
-
Thursday May
15th: In Ada, MN - Norman County Speedway: The E85 car
started in the second row inside for the heat race. The race
was relatively uneventful, but Jason noticed something was not right
with the motor. The E85 car took third in the heat race.
For the feature, Jason started in third row outside, however it
became more apparent that something was getting worse with the
motor. Rather than do further damage to the motor, Jason headed for
the pits and unfortunately logged a DNF (did not finish) for the
first time this year.

Friday May 16th: In West Fargo, ND -
RRVS: The E85 car started in front row outside. Jason
took the lead in the second lap and held on for a four car length
lead at the finish, winning the first heat race for the year!!!
In the feature, the E85 started in third row inside. It took
a few laps, but Jason finally passed Randy Klien in the 18 car, for
second place and put his sights on the 2 car of Brock Gronwald.
Jason could not catch the 2 car and finished in 2nd
place, a great weekend at RRVS!!

5-9-2008 Race
Summary - Jason started in the outside of the front row for
his heat race. Unfortunately he spun out going into turn one,
and was sent to the back of the pack. After restarting in
eighth, Jason worked his way up to finish a strong second. This was
a good indication that the E85 car could work through traffic and
should be a contender this year.
Jason started in
the second row outside for the feature. After the first lap, Jason
took the lead and built a commanding lead over the next ten laps.
On lap 11 a blown motor brought out a caution and stacked the field
for a restart. The E85 car did not get a good restart and
within a couple of laps the lead was overtaken by the 21 car of
Travis Saurer a defending WISSOTA Midwest Mod points champion, and
Brock Gronwold in the 2 car, last years Midwest Mod points champion.
Jason finished third and led the most laps in the feature, and
nearly pulled off the storybook ending winning his first feature in
the new E85 car. The top three in the Midwest Mod feature all
ran ethanol engines.

Team E85 Racing set to
kickoff their season! - (posted 5/7/08)
Jason Strand and the team will be ready to take to the big half mile
speedway in West Fargo, ND this Friday, May 9th. Red River Valley
Speedway has postponed their season thus far because winter just
didn't want to leave.
Then next week Team E85 Racing is scheduled to be at Norman County
Raceway, Thursday night, RRVS Friday night, and possibly Devils Lake
Speedway on Saturday night.
Throughout the season, Saturday nights will be shared between
Jamestown Speedway, Devils Lake Speedway, and Viking Speedway. The
team will take into consideration the weather and if there are
specials being ran, then make a decision on where to go.
